Safari in Kenya (October 2024)

I got a call from a friend couple asking me:
We are going on a safari in Kenya, do you want to join us? I could not change the date or the itinerary, just say yes or not. I am glad I said yes!!
It was a fabulous safari under all aspects:
* The hotels were fantastic.
* All meals were as buffet, so much choice and so good.
* Not only we saw the big 5 (lion, leopard, elephant, rhinoceros, and buffalo) but we saw also plenty of zebras, birds, monkeys…. The whole panel of wild animals.
One of my best trip ever!!
Safari is not cheap… I heard that Tanzania charges less for parks entrance fee…..

Ol Pejeta Conservancy

We stayed at the Sweet Waters Serana Camp, not only it is a very nice hotel/camp but, it is located right on the equator. How cool is that?
the highlight of this first day was seeing the lion drinking water. We signed up for a night safari, and it was great. Ol Pejeta Conservancy is the only park where you can have a night safari!!

None, it was a great day

Samburu National Reserve

Lucky us, we saw a leopard!!! at a distance of 100m. It was resting on a rock, not paying attention at the 20 safari cars full of tourists around him….
We saw also twice lions, and elephants crossing the river. It was just like a Walt Disney movie….. Absolutely fantastic!!

None, it was a great day.

Nakuru Lake National Park

Thanks to the lake, it is a bird paradise. All kind of birds, and sometimes, you can see thousands of flamingos, unfortunately, it was not the case when I was there, just a few….

None, it was a great day.

Maasai Mara National Park

Maasai mara National Park is probably the most famous park in Kenya. By its flat landscape, its huge surface and also due to the Maasai people, who still live with their own traditions.
We saw a chase between a cheetah and a antelope that did not end with a kill. The antelope, this time was lucky…
We saw also a lioness with her 2 cubs playing with her. It was so cute!!
Also saw a few wildebeests, there are the ones who are part of the great migration between Kenya and Tanzania during the summertime. Thousands of them move back and forth every year between those 2 countries looking for greener grass

None, it was a great day.

Crescent Island is where the movie Out Of Africa made. They brought the animal on the island for the movie, and, when the movie was completed and everyone left the island, they decided to leave the animals on the island, was cheaper to do that way….
So, the animals we see now are the kids and grandkids from the original’s ones. So cool!
None, was a good day!
